Resounding Joy Minstrels are voice musicians who share God’s message of love through the gift of song, enriching the lives of both the faith-based community as well as the greater San Diego community. Minstrels accept invitations to perform for church services, memorial services, and older-adult community programs.

In 2005, Calvary Lutheran bass vocalist Rick Hein formed a quartet to perform acapella pieces for the first Resounding Joy fundraising concert. To ensure adequate coverage of all four parts of harmony—alto, bass, soprano, tenor—the quartet soon doubled its membership. Responding to ever-increasing performance requests, the Minstrels now include between 12 and 16 singers at any given time.

Ann Hein . Minstrels Choral Director
Ann joined Calvary Lutheran church and became a member of its choir in 1980. When the need arose for a capella singers to spread resounding joy to San Diego adults isolated by disability, Ann's love for people and music led her to offer her talent as choral director to the newly formed Minstrels.

Ann's qualifications include college vocal performance, college coursework in adult choir direction, past directorship of the Clairemont Lutheran Church adult choir, and interim directorship of the children's and teen choirs.
