| A summer camp, to be held Aug 20 and 21 in Carmel Valley will teach young people from 8 to 18 how to use music to help others. The training will be lead by Resounding Joy Inc., a nonprofit agency that uses music therapy techniques to promote the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well- being of people throughout San Diego County and beyond. The Junior Joy Givers, as they're called, will learn how to us recreational music- making techniques in drumming, rhythm and singing to reduce stress, improve physical fitness, encourage self- expression and foster camaraderie of those in need. Under the supervision of music therapists and trained adult Joy Givers, they will put their new skills to use in intergenerational interactions at Emeritus Retirement Community in Carmel Valley. "Join Resounding Joy for an amazing summer training camp opportunity for ages 8-18 years", said Rebecca Vaudreuil, who is leading the two-day workshop. "Our program provides children and teens the opportunity to develop their musicality while creatively helping others and engaging in volunteer musical outreach." The summer camp will be held Thursday and Friday Aug. 20 and 21, from 8:30am- 12:30pm at Torrey Highlands Park on Del Mar Heights Road, behind Torrey Pines High School, and at the neighboring Emeritus Retirement Community, 13101 Hartfied Ave. Light snacks will be provided. The fee for the workshop is $50.00 per participant.
