Supportive Music Promoting Music Wellness

Anyone who has sung lullabies to a child has been a supportive musician. Supportive music uses music to create a supportive, comforting, and enjoyable environment for individuals of all ages and abilities. Joy Givers often provide supportive music to individuals who are homebound or in assisted-living facilities but the list is not limited.

Supportive music providers do not have to be musicians to employ the following music wellness techniques:

  • Listen to and Relate Compassionately to People
  • Prepare a Comfortable and Supportive Music Environment
  • Hum
  • Sing
  • Tone
  • Play Accessible Rhythm Instruments
