Dr. Reuer is an internationally recognized and widely published expert in music/wellness and music therapy. As founder and CEO of MusicWorx Inc., her San Diego-based contractual and consulting agency, Dr. Reuer manages direct music therapy services to children with special needs, medical patients, and hospice patients. Dr. Reuer also facilitates groups dealing with substance abuse, eating disorders, cancer, lifestyle change, and bereavement. Through her international music therapy internship program, Dr. Reuer focuses her professional attention on music therapy program and job development in San Diego County. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Reuer provides wellness, community building, stress management, and pain management workshops and seminars for health care professionals, educators, and corporate clients all over the world. Dr. Reuer is a past president of the National Association for Music Therapy (Now the American Music Therapy Association). In 2000, Dr. Reuer was awarded the American Music Therapy Association’s national Professional Practice Award, and was awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
Noelle is a board-certified music therapist and received her baccalaureate degree from the University of North Dakota. She joined the Resounding Joy team in spring 2008 as the Director of Education & Training of the “Joy Givers” volunteer program. Noelle is the primary “Sound Minds” program facilitator and program development coordinator, as well as a music therapy clinician for a variety of populations. She oversees many Resounding Joy community music-making events throughout San Diego County. In October 2008, Noelle represented Resounding Joy in its first International Outreach Project: Helping Hearts with Music in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Noelle is a skilled lecturer and presents Resounding Joy’s mission, programs, and training experiences to groups throughout the country. After recently completing her certification to provide music therapy services in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) through Resounding Joy’s “Healing Notes” program, Noelle is “eager to show the NICU medical community how effective music therapy is as an evidence-based practice with infants and their families”.
Hannah is a recent graduate of Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music in Berea, OH where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and minor in Psychology. After moving to San Diego for her music therapy internship at MusicWorx Inc., she began her career as a board certified music therapist with Resounding Joy. Hannah provides music therapy services for the Semper Sound Military Music Therapy and Junior Joy Giver programs. Her passion for world music has brought her across the globe to Russia to perform and multiple times to Jamaica to experience music therapy internationally. Hannah represents Resounding Joy at regional and national conferences as well as at community based events in San Diego and surrounding areas.
Demi Bullock is a veteran of Afghanistan and former Corporal of the United States Marine Corps . After completing an internship as Resounding Joy’s first Semper Sound Intern, she moved to Boston, MA and is proactively creating a multidisciplinary approach to studying war, trauma, music composition, and psychology. As a supporter and advocate for the expansion of music therapy services for active military and veteran communities and international areas of armed conflict, she is dedicated to utilizing her personal and professional experiences to help others. Her passion is assisting those experiencing debilitating psychological changes associated with wartime experiences, most notably combat stress injury and posttraumatic stress disorder. She is currently contracted as
Resounding Joy’s East Coast Semper Sound Representative.
Hannah is proud to have graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy. She completed her internship in San Diego at Resounding Joy’s sister company, MusicWorx Inc. and shortly afterwards began her career as a board-certified music therapist. She currently oversees the Joy Giver program and organizes events for the Recreational Music Center and Clinic in addition to providing music therapy services for older adults. Hannah is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and is excited to combine her knowledge of anatomy, wellness, and music.
Derlin is a board-certified music therapist who
received a B.A. in Psychology and music from the University of California, San Diego. She then worked as a behavioral instructor, providing one-to-one early intervention Applied Behavior Analysis services for children with autism and pervasive developmental disorders in San Diego. After her work in San Diego, Derlin returned to school to receive her Masters equivalency degree in music, with emphasis in Music Therapy from Colorado State University, Fort Collins. There, she focused on Neurological Music Therapy. After doing her internship in Sacramento, CA, she joined the Resounding Joy staff.
Rebecca is a Massachusetts native who earned her Bachelors of Music in music therapy at Berklee College of Music in Boston. A board certified music therapist, she achieved her fellowship in Neurologic Music Therapy and is a neo-natal music therapy specialist. She developed the published and actively implemented curriculum for Resounding Joy’s Semper Sound Military program and designed the current protocol for the Junior Joy Giver Training Program. Rebecca travels nationally on a regular basis to lecture at universities, academies, regional, and national conferences. Rebecca has a passion for international music therapy and has traveled to Japan, Africa, Jamaica, and India to explore different cultures and facilitate music therapy services in schools, orphanages, hospitals, and infirmaries. Presently, Rebecca is working towards her Masters degree in the Mind, Brain, and Education program at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. The experience working with military populations inspired her to continue her education in the concentration areas of trauma and neurology. She is actively consulting for Resounding Joy.
Paola earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism in her home country, Brazil. She has been in the United States for over 12 years, now married with two children. She manages all office operations and volunteers at all of Resounding Joy’s events. Paola is a member of Ocean Beach First Baptist Church, where she is a Sunday school teacher and also goes on mission trips to Mexico. Everyday Paola is learning the benefits of music therapy. She is looking forward to becoming a trained Joy Giver.
Orion Boucher is a native Californian who is happy to be living in his home state again. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2011 where he studied music therapy and upright bass, mainly in the jazz idiom. He enjoys working with a variety of different populations. In addition, Orion plays with several bands (“gigging”) in the San Diego area. Orion joined the MusicWorx and Resounding Joy staff, and is currently acting as a subcontracted music therapist in greater San Diego.
Marielle is a California native and a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University. At school in Dallas, TX she earned her B.M. in Music Therapy and B.A. in Psychology while exploring a variety of interests including track & field, music therapy service trips to Jamaica and Uganda, and SMU’s female a cappella group the BelleTones. After completing her internship at MusicWorx Inc., Marielle joined the MusicWorx and Resounding Joy staff, and is currently acting as a subcontracted music therapist in greater San Diego.
